Healing Mass with Father Gerry Orbos, SVD
It was truly a blessed evening when Father Gerry Orbos celebrated mass at the Donau City Church on May 18, 2005. Fr. Orbos reminded us, to make Christ us our King and stay focused on what He wants us to do, i.e., to be instruments of God’s love and peace. He also shared with us some of his experiences as a missionary. He did it with a combination of sincerity and humor which brought many of us to tears as well as laughter.
At the end of the mass, Father Orbos prayed for healing from our afflictions, blessed us and wished us peace.
It was a spirit-filled evening that people who filled-up the church to the brim will never forget.

Healing and Peace
Often, we pray when we are in need….
Often, we pray when we are lonely…
Instinctively, this is man’s escape when trials, challenges, cloudy opportunes betide him. Yet, we must not forget… where there is weakness, there is strength…
When we resolve ourselves to prayer, we resolve ourselves to God – the Almighty… our savior… our Healer…
Recently, we are blessed to have Fr. Jerry Orbos celebrate a healing mass with us. Fr. Jerry, like our Parish priest Fr. Ron, is an SVD missionary whose flaming heart desires to spread the good news of our salvation…
One of his striking messages convey our Blessed Mother’s plea that is… to pray!!!
Fr. Jerry shared that “prayer is power”…. It is in prayer when impossible things happen… when things we desire becomes a reality…. Being in communication with God, we are strengthened… our souls cleansed and our spirit renewed… During the healing mass we gathered with the common intention to be healed… And yes, we are healed… some from their physical illnesses… others from their spirituals shortcomings… while many others still from emotional insecurities…
Fr. Jerry imparted also that humor too, is power… Down and lonely, feeling small and weak…. We should never forget to see a brighter side in everything… When things became burdensome and heavy… take it lightly… and be happy… Humor can help us go through each passing day of pain, loneliness and fear…
Finally, Fr. Jerry added that God loves us whoever we are and whatever we are… Inspite of our sinfulness God see the inner beauty in us…Unworthy as we are God grants forgiveness…Truly, there’s no greater love than God’s unconditional love …
In the end the celebration became a gathering of strengthened individuals, joyful and rejoicing of God’s loving mercy and peace…
