Peter, the leader of the apostles, proclaims to the people that Jesus who was crucified is risen from the dead and is proclaimed by God as Lord and Messiah. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, laid down his life for us as a sacrifice for our sins.
5th Sunday of Lent: “Lazarus, come out!”

To the discouraged Jews exiled in Babylon, God speaks his life-giving word. This majestic prophecy of a broken people rising from the grave is fulfilled in God’s power at work in Jesus calling Lazarus back to life.
