PGG Charities
Philippinische Gottesdienst Gemeinde Charity Annual Report (June 2008 – May 2009)
1. High School Students
The PGG Education Assistance Program (PGGEAP) was conceptualized after Fr. Ron attended an SVD course on Interfaith Dialogue in Nemi, Rome, where he met two SVD priests assigned at far flung areas in the Philippines: Fr. Bong Salas, SVD working in a parish in Agusan del Sur and Fr. Gerry Gudmalin, SVD in the Ifugao Region. Both have parochial schools and they have related their students´ difficulties about the daily school expenses. This situation gave Fr. Ron and the PGG the idea of assisting already enrolled students at least of their transportation expenses which is the daily horror for parents. The PGGEAP finally started that school year 2004-2005 with 20 high school students, of course, in Agusan and another 20 students in Ifugao. The support consists mainly of €10 (Pp650) monthly allowance for 12 months a year. The April-May allowances help the students of their expenses on school supplies and uniforms for the June opening of new academic year.
The main function of the PGG is to look for sponsors who are willing to donate €10 a month for at least a year and/or until the student finishes high school. (Contract of support is made on a yearly basis.) But the responsibility of the sponsors is not just the monetary support. It is also suggested that they communicate with the student through emails, phone calls or mails. PGG simply bridges these 2 ends and of course, transfer the monthly support to the contact persons in the Philippines. Money transfer is usually made in the first Tuesday of the month.
The number of students needing support is endless moving the PGG to continually seek supporters for this program. With the help of God and through the decisions of the kind-hearted sponsors, we hope we could extend this help to as many needy students as possible.
May we invite you then, to help us help these needy students in the Philippines. So many students are still waiting for our support. What we present to you now are the recipients and the sponsors last year.

The PGG Education Assistance Program (PGGEAP) gave birth to other parallel programs, in the course of time, as PGG responded to the needs of the people and surely, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit of love. This brochure will give us an idea of the existing PGG Charities and the need still for more help to augment PGG´s extending arm to the needy in the Philippines. Some private initiatives were channelled through the PGG.
You can help the PGG through the enclosed Erlagschein, through second collections in the Masses for such purpose, or love offering in an envelope during the Offertory with the prescribed intention.
II. COLLEGE STUDENTS

IV. RICE DISTRIBUTION PROJECT
Initially thought of and started for the residents of Sta. Teresita, Batangas 3 years ago, it was a project that was extended to 4 other locations last year because of the enormous response of the PGG members to this call, the call of “putting food at the table” of our less fortunate brothers and sisters. Assistance consisted of 25 kilos rice (1/2 cavan) per family of the area except in Malabon where every family received 10 kilos rice. Hundreds of families benefited from this project. A cavan/sack with 50 kilos costs P1,500 (ca.€23). This year, other areas for distribution could be opened depending upon the request and donations received for this project. The areas that received donations:
1. Cuta West, Sta. Teresita Batangas (c/o Ruth Sandoval) receiving the amount of P75,000.
2. Baay, Lingayen, Pangasinan (c/o Myla Danuco) in two batches for two sitios receiving P81,475 and P45,000.
3. St. Joseph Village, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon (c/o Consorcia Briones) receiving the amount of P81,475.
4. Tinago, Dauis, Bohol (c/o Nonette Maderazo) receiving rice in the amount of P24,000.
5. Malabon, Metro Manila (c/o Roy Holgado), a slum area receiving already in 4 batches, supported by the €5 Rice Project for Malabon, 1st batch, P81,475, 2nd batch, P42,000, 3rd batch P45,000 and 4th batch, P45,000.
V. PARISH ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
For the past 4 years, the PGG has been supporting the catechetical program of the St. Therese Parish, in Sta. Teresita Batangas, with Fr. Bert Cabrera as the parish priest. The monthly support consist of P6,500 (ca €100) for the expenses for teaching materials. Catechists work voluntarily, receiving no wages for their services. Other parishes are waiting for our help.
VI. “SMILE FOR MELVIN” PROJECT
This very special project was entirely supported by the PGG Kinderchor (many thanks especially to Brian Salonga and Dominik Hruska). They staged a concert last April 2009, the proceeds of which were used to have Melvin Maranan, a 7-month old boy born with harelip, operated, and a reserve fund for the correction of his palate when he reaches 2 years. Melvin can now smile beautifully through the help of his kuyas and ates in the PGG Kinderchor.

These support activities could be extended to more recipients in more areas, depending on your help. This is our call, this is how we knock at the door of your hearts. Help PGG help the needy! We are all so blessed in this land and were all given the capacity to extend our hands to those who have much less than what we have. What we are going to give them will not make us poor, on the contrary, it will make us richer in joy and peace. The answers to their prayers are in our hands. Let God answer their prayers through us!
